GiftQuest is not a brand-new idea. It is the continuation of a spiritual gifts inventory program that has served individuals, churches, ministries, and organizations for more than forty years.
Long before web apps, mobile devices, and instant online reports, GiftQuest existed as a DOS-based computer program. Churches and ministry leaders used it to help people better understand their God-given spiritual gifts, explore ministry fit, and consider how their unique gifting could be used in service to others.
That original program helped many people discover patterns in their spiritual personality and better understand the seven gifts described in Romans 12:5–8.
From Legacy DOS Software to the Modern Web
The original GiftQuest program was built for a different era of computing. It was designed for DOS and older computer systems that are no longer commonly used today.
As technology changed, the original program became increasingly difficult to run. Modern computers, operating systems, browsers, and mobile devices do not support that old DOS environment in a practical way. For many legacy users, that meant the program they remembered and trusted became harder and harder to access.
The modern GiftQuest platform was created to preserve that legacy while making the inventory available again for today’s users.

The heart of GiftQuest has not changed.
GiftQuest still exists to help people discover, understand, and apply their spiritual gifts. The goal is not simply to produce a score or report. The goal is to help individuals and organizations recognize how God has uniquely gifted people for service, ministry, leadership, encouragement, giving, mercy, teaching, prophecy, and other expressions of spiritual purpose.
For churches and ministries, GiftQuest can also help leaders better understand the gifting of their congregation or group. This can support wiser ministry placement, better volunteer alignment, and deeper conversations about calling, service, and spiritual growth.

We know some users remember the original software, the older reports, and the legacy manuals. To honor that history, we have preserved and converted legacy documentation so former users can recognize the roots of the program and see how the modern version connects to the original system.
The legacy program itself may no longer run on modern machines, but its purpose continues through the current GiftQuest platform.
